Our Mission
For the past forty years – like many countries around the world – Aotearoa New Zealand has been captured by the most wealthy members of society who have set public policy, bought politicians and elections, and increased inequality.
Raising taxes for those who can afford to contribute more has been an unpopular policy – but it actually helps everyone. The uber-wealthy can live anywhere and invest their funds in tax havens, but the IRD is getting better at tracking that wealth. Tax policies have generally pushed more of the cost of public services onto those who can least afford to pay more. Assets aren't taxed and neither are most capital gains.
